Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H. E. Mr. Osman Mohammed Saleh, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Zachary Mubiri-Muita, Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

The Secretary-General congratulated him on his appointment as Executive Secretary and commended the ICGLR for leading efforts to promote sustainable peace and security in the region.

They discussed ongoing dialogue processes in the region and efforts to neutralize armed groups in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

They also discussed ways in which the United Nations and the ICGLR could further strengthen their cooperation.
